Roll pin material - 18-8 or 420?

The roll pin through the prop shaft to the thrust bearing coupling broke as it was being driven out, not a clean shear but a jagged break near one of the shear points so I guess it was stressed at some point. I know 18-8 SS is the most corrosion resistant, but the shear strength is about half of 420 SS.

Anybody have a clue what material theirs is, or if the 420 would be harder to drive in?
