Desperately searching for a replacement propeller
nut for 1985 Wauquiez Centurion. Pretty sure this is the original prop shaft and our mechanic
(who shall remain nameless) is not only unable to find a replacement nut but can't give us the measurement. Our MaxProp was sent out to be serviced and required quite a bit more work than I expected. Mechanic
said he could put the old propeller
back on but, not being a mechanic, I did not realize the nut was er....going to be so hard to crack!
The boat has a Perkins
4-108 and a Hurth
HBW150V, 2.99:1 transmission
and our survey
says the propeller shaft is 35mm stainless steel
. The nut for the max prop is 2.4 cm on the interior
. The threads are 5 per cm. The threads on the end of the prop shaft taper....
The mechanic and a local propeller specialist say they've never seen this style of thread and don't know what to call it! They tried the nut for a Benetau and the mechanic says he's tried everything he knows. So, I'm looking once again for a little help from all my fellow cruisers, even if it's just a recommendation for a good propeller guy. Can't believe I'm having this much trouble 20 miles from Annapolis
Forget the weekend, at this point I'm trying to salvage
the rest of the month!
