Max Prop - What Grease Do You Use?
For 20 yrs I have used Lubriplate grease (which I have to order in my area) in my max prop. I am looking for another grease that is more durable or less prone to wasking out. I am lucky to get a season out of the prop before I have to re-grease. I have the zerks but it is still a bit of a pain. Any other suggestions?
Thx
A

Re: Max Prop - What Grease Do You Use?
I've had good luck with the Lubriplate which I've used for the past 25 years. I don't have the zerk fittings so it is a pain to disassemble the prop, however I go some 3 years between haul outs and the grease has not washed out during that time. FWIW

Lance thank you for the reply. I was hoping to find something in the auto stores that would suffice. We do sail and motor a good amount...maybe 2000 miles/ yr. Maybe thats just asking too much of the lube, to have it stay in that long/distance....

The stickyest most durable grease I have found is Evinrude/Johnson triple guard.
Sorry I don't have any max prop experience.
I just know how tenacious it is.
edit I am trying to put in a pic and
I use the little box with the mountain in it. I use the manage attachments.

Then you are using the wrong grease or have some other issue. Lubriplate-AA will stay in a properly assembled Max Prop for years. I have pulled apart 10-year-old props still packed with it.

Re: Max Prop - What Grease Do You Use?
I would not experiment with another grease given the replacement cost of the prop. As fstbttoms mentioned, the grease usually doesn't wash out. I used to have a boat with a Max-Prop and loved it. I'd have one on our current boat if I had the cash to throw at it.
