Looks like Wave Pwr could be added...

I have been reading with interest the story of Suntory Mermaid II... the JPN Catamaran that just completed the trip from HI to JPN using only wave power. According to the article I found, looks like it propelled a 3 ton Cat at about 31nm/day or only 1.29 knts...not too fast... the system looks pretty straight forward and I was wondering if it could be adapted to existing Cats and possibly used in conjunction with Sails to travel even a bit faster... any thoughts...

Cheers

1.29 knots ...I hope he brought a lot of reading material. It makes me wonder how he factored out windage? How would he know how much the wind pushed him along towards his destination? Liferafts will drift faster than 1.29 knots in a good blow.

I doubt all that additional surface area is going to add a knot to your already relatively fast sailboat. I would think all that additional surface area would kill what nice boat speed you did have.
