Kanzaki 10 Transmission Slippimg

We have a Yanmar 3HM35F with a Kanzaki 10 transmission. It has been slipping out of forward gear and sometimes does not engage in forward gear. We replaced the shifter thinking this was the problem. Only getting worse. Most of the time will run all day long at 1800 to 2000 rpms but recently when we tried to increase to 2200 rpms it slipped out of gear. Many times to get forward to engage, a quick shift into reverse will remedy the problem. It is a 1989 tranny and we use dexron III like the manual recommends - as did the PO. Is it linkage or in the tranny? If tranny needs pulled, it looks like we have to raise the entire engine to get it off ( in an Island Packet 35). Any help is appreciated.

Re: Kanzaki 10 transmission slippiNg

Most of the Kanzaki's I know use #30 weight oil. The ZF trany's use ATF oil. And what is a Kanzaki 10? (hyd. or mechanical) Can't find it on their site.
