Re: GFO packing problem

I had/have the same question about using GFO when I also have a grease nipple outboard of the gland. I just spoke to the main Australian supplier of GFO ( Bears Marine in Queensland), and they say that having grease at the GFO isn't a problem, it is simply that GFO doesn't need grease.

Thanks for your answer.
Finally I took off the grease pump (still installed who knows? ) and arranged a water inlet to provide a water flow to the ex-grease nipple.
Until now (10 hours motor run) it works fine, slightly warm stern gland body, no water getting in and no grease splash at the bilge.
Let's see in the long run.
