Bow thruster

Does anyone know if it is possible, effective and reasonably priced to add a bow thruster to a Searay 260 Sundancer? What about side thrusters? Thanks.

If there is not enough space for a standard bow thruster (and I recommend the Sleipner Sidepower for ease of fit), then there is an alternative technology, which effectively sites a water pump wherever it is easiest, and then pumps high pressure water bow (and stern) to effect

You're probably looking at a min. of $4K (probably more) in parts & labour "IF" you can find a place for it to fit. I know in our 25' express cruiser there's no room for one.

Single I/O? Having problems docking? Maybe it's time to move up to twin's or a new boat with a bowthruster already installed.

Yes, Shure helps docking. Check out this link to a company that does installs all over the country. They are pricey but specialize in searays. 2 day turnaround. I heard they they do over 300 instals per year. At least you can get a quote to compare

Slipener, Vetus and others make them as small as 4"

No offense intended but with twin engines you do not need a thruster in a boat that small. Lessons would be less expensive.

Chief, Be carefull not to confuse "need" and "want." A 26 ft "Styrafoam" cruiser blows around like a discarded cup. Bow thrusters are a great device.

For a little yacht such as yours, something like this (http://www.willdo.eu/jetthrusters.html) might work. Whether it is necessary is another question.
