Hi Guys,
I took the 2-blade Gori prop off today to diagnose the 10deg free play of the prop hub on the
saildrive shaft. It looks like half the play is between the prop hub and its internal spline... I assume this is the flexible bushing Gori talks about for reducing vibration going back into the
Saildrive. Are these serviceable at all?
The second half of play came from the female/male spline interface which I assume was due to the prob not being pulled up onto the shaft enough by the shaft nut. This was indeed alarmingly loose and I was able to undo it with my fingers. The nut has been drilled out to accept a split pin, but the drive shaft end thread has not
. Gori's exploded diagram shows the split pin so I take it the nut came with the prop not the Saildrive.
I vaguely remember an
installation note within the Gori manual which I can not find anywhere at the moment specifying a special nut to be used with Gori 2 and
3 blade props on a
Yanmar Saildrive. Not that I can find that information online anywhere. Can anyone shed light on this and how it locks onto the shaft and whether it'd pull the prop up more onto the drive shaft.
