Taking ASA 101 classes

April 28/29 my daughter and I are going to take our ASA 101 classes at Island Sailing in Olympia, Wa. I've been wanting to do this for years and now going to do it. In the future I would like to live aboard.

Congrats....I hope your ready for a life long sailing addiction.

We did a learn to sail vacation (101, 103, & 104) a few years back just for fun. Now we are fulltime (still working) liveaboards counting the days until we have enough savings to give up work and begin cruising full time.

I'm dreaming of going on a sailing vacation in July so I in November can go to the Caribbean and sail for half a year. Do you know which beginner sailing courses me and my boyfriend should take? And in which country? thank you

That sounds like a great plan. I am no where qualified to recommend a particular course or country. However go somewhere really nice that have other things to do besides sailing. We sailed during the days when the instructor went away, we enjoyed time alone/local activities/privately discussed the lessons, slept on the boat and then repeated it the next day. It was perfect.

Re: Taking ASA 101 classes

My wife and I did 101, 103, 104, and 114 in the carib on a 42 foot cat. Great training and experience. Very hands on way to learn. I still see my training instructor around the islands here. St Thomas USVI.
