Re: Radar

Like many things; assuming your radar is head up it's relative
If your radar is North Up then it's whatever your radar is set to; I like N/U/M so it matches the (corrected) compass

Re: Radar

I met the question is a man onboard checked an object bearing, ......pls find the position bearing.

I believe THE radar bearing should be compass bearing now, I need to calculate it the the Ture bearing on the chart, CORRECT?

thx

I'd suggest you read some primers on reading charts first. Most all paper charts are drawn true north up. But there is a compass deviation "rose" on each chart showing how to find the compass bearing for anything on the chart which will enable you to find where you are at and to plot a compass course. Most radars will allow you to set either north up (compass), true north, or ship course up (true or compass). There is a lot more to this than can be given here, and a lot of practice. You can probably find some online tutorials on this too, perhaps on youtube and other sites.
