I missed three. Screwed up the two water pumps in the engine, and guessed incorrectly as to how long before you die of hypothermia in 55 degree water.

Must confess to a few lucky guesses, like the fact that "fisherman's bend" is another name for an anchor bend.

A shame they didn't show a Yanmar.

My boat has a tiller, what the heck do I know about a wheel?? Also, I don't know if my boat has a right or left handed prop, but looking over the top of the engine towards the stern the shaft spins counter clockwise in reverse....

Oh, and I know exactly which direction the stern will go in reverse.... opposite the way that I want it to!

37 I like these tests but agree with unbusted that it's hard to study for but if you're actively on the water it's all good knowledge.

A few of the questions are too specific to be relevant to testing someones breadth of knowledge. I'm sure that is what the test was intended to do and not to be a game of Nautical Trivia, which it partially is.

Yes. Of course, you should also turn on the masthead (steaming) light.

Who would tie a rode to an anchor? Some chain would be desireable and I doubt that the eye of the anchor is big enough to pull my 3/4" rode through.

Agreed. Chain and thimble on braided line or chain and a Lawrence Simpson splice on laid line.

The wording isn't great I don't get what I'm doing wrong with the forward spring line.

It runs from the dock forward to the bow!

A forward spring runs forward from the stern of the boat, not from the dock. I'd say that the main function of that spring is to keep the boat from moving back. This stuff about using a spring to move the boat off the dock is a bit goofy, as any longshoreman will tell you.
