Licence permit vaarbewijs 57 ft sailboat

Hi sailors.
We are a belgium 55 yrs old couple, new on this community. Planning to buy a 50/60 ft Motorsailer and making a easygoing,
living on board world trip.
I have 30 years experience on profesional ships, on coastal and inland navigation, ( 400 and 2000 tons ) vessels .

The question is : do i need a sailboat or other licence having a proffesional ( dutch) capten licence for all ships on inland navigation.Groot vaarbewijs A/B

Starting the mediteranian with the goal going around north and south amerika.
The sailing at sea experience,,,, we ar working at it right now.
Thanks for all sugestions

In general the answer is no, you dont need any particular qualification. However Portugal and Croatia, require some form of competency certificate and others countries may look for one . Your best bet is to get an ICC ( international Certificate of Competency). This will require a test on your boat, your commercial license will in general be no good for leisure vessels.
