Any experience with Boatwise courses?

I am thinking of taking the Boatwise OUPV course in Lexingon MA. The only distinguishing features drawing me towards them are proximity to my home and scheduling.

Do you have any experience with this company in general or their classes taught out of Lexington?

I am also interested in strong feelings in either direction on other USGC certification classes in the Boston area.

Thanks,
Harry

Not sure about Lexington, but BoatWise has a good reputation in Southern NH.

Only point I'd make is that for about the same money, and a few more test questions, you can get a Master's instead of an OUPV.

We have no experience with BoatWise but just wanted to second your comments on getting a Master's instead. The same type program is offered by the schools here and we both chose that route. Then it became just a matter of waiting to build sea time in the appropriate vessels.

I highly recommend Boatwise. I took the masters course with Rick Kilburn last May. The entire class was impressed with how thourow the training was. Worth the extra money for the masters too.

Note that at Boatwise Lexington the OUPV is 9 sessions and $945. The Master's is only 13 sessions and $1195.

To do the upgrade is the 4 sessions and $295.

Just seems if you're going to invest $945 and 9 sessions of time makes sense to go the extra mile for the Master's.
