Ya know what ???

I am not complaining,but::::

I have been checking in here for the last 10-14 days ...posted few but seems to be no response. Now if thats what you expect, then that is fine. no problem here....but i'm used to a forum where we post a question or an opinion and get a response back in 15 minutes.I will say that that is unusual here, but on the other forum ,,,quite common.
i have posted a few times here.Is it that the people here are a little laid back? If so ,I can handle that.
Just seems to me that on this forum you can post a question and it could take a week or two before you hear a squeak....Is that common ??
watson
p.s. please don't take this as a complaint, simply an observation

Reasonable observation. Consider the number of members, threads, and different interests on this board. Most likely it is a matter of your posts just not striking a key with some of the members who spend the most time on the board. That is not to say they are not interesting, just that they are likely catching he eye of members who post less frequently.
That is often a very positive thing.
I would encourage you to add some info to your profile so that other members can get to know you. Often you will find commanality with members who have the same boat, or share a location with you.
We are cruisers here, so laid back is a way of life. Keep participating, and you will likely hit that key post that gets people talking.

For response posts need to be controversal, provocative, entertaining questions.

Because most people here are up a mast, up a coconut palm or up to no good!

Gee Watson,

I looked back at your previous posts and you got lots of replies. Your first hello post generated 6 responses welcoming you to the forum. Is it just that they weren't fast enough compared to other forums you visit?

You should understand that a lot of the members are either working or sailing and do not sit in front of a computer all day waiting to answer questions on CF. But I guarantee that if you ask a relevant question about sailing, boat buying, equipment, or anything else related you will have a whole host of suggestions, opinions, and perhaps a little outright BS within a day or so. And guess what, all free and a lot of it coming from experts and professionals in the field.

I would have to admit that 'another post about what boat to buy', wouldn't interest me very much. WAY too many variables - and trailerable power boats ... well ... most of us have sail boats, and don't know that much about small power boats. There ARE exceptions.

Some of us seek civility, others have it thrust upon them.

Are you saying "a good thing" as Martha Stewart does, which I take to mean a thing is good? Or do you mean it in the threatening sense, as in "It's a good thing you're civil or I'd have to . . . " Come to think of it, maybe Martha is being threatening, too.

Anyway, welcome to the Forum, watson. Glad you're here. As others have suggested, filling out your profile helps us to get to know you, as will reading your "body of work" as your posts accumulate. Once we have a sense of who you are, the responses won't stop.

Of course not. If I want to talk about you I'll put your name right on top.
