Don’t think of it as high power or low power....

Think of it as fake power or REAL power.

By REAL I mean.....

LOL.. modern diesels are the same as used on boats and in trucks.

If you do a lot of rivers, there are engines with huge power available..

Re: Wanted:Bluewater high powered Narrowboat

I was concerned that "Canal boating" would not be a topic of interest to real boaters, and yet in reality it is REAL boating with its own problems and water issues..

I will keep looking, sorting out the logistics and keep posting. Ask anything.. there is no such thing as a dumb question.... er.. well there is but anyway.

Those with canal experience feel free to comment..

Presumably there is a speed limit on the canals or just a no wake policy ?

Ah well, Wottie, just think of the joys of piloting your soon to be finished restoration (!) and motoring up the Huon on a summer day. If you run a dry exhaust your li'l Yannie will sound just like that Lister!

River and canal navigation do have their attractions!

Jim

Yeah, gotta say, I'd take the Huon any day. When I move there I am finally going to build that electric river cat I've had on my notepad for the last fifteen years.

In the meantime Wottie's current project will do nicely.

I'll bring the food.

Full disclaimer mate, I remember the original video, it's probably still out there.

It actually takes him over half an hour to get the thing running, that's a very heavily edited version.

There's another of him, or someone like him, pre-heating the darn thing with a kero powered blow-torch before it can be started.

The usual English stiff-upper-lip and poise is close to cracking at a few points in the video.

But yeah, that exhaust note is to die for.
