Tough Decision.

I had narrowed to one boat.

But, then this morning much to my surprise the broker of another boat that I low-balled last week responded saying that the owner is seriously considering now. He refused when I first made the offer. Now I am taken for a loop as I never expected they would change their mind. The only problem is the low- ball boat is not in the US. I am trying to decide now if it is it worth the effort to bring her here. Really amazing boat, in my opinion. Only drawback is wood. But I might be able to live with it as this boat is really nice and has everything on my wish list. Tough decision.

Just say NO to wood at any price. He came back because he realizes how hard it is to sell a wood boat. Dont ge me wrong, I love wood boats.... as long as someone else maintains them and takes the loss.... :>) It takes a rare person to own one....

You would be biting off a lot more (expensive) maintenance and yard time with wood, even assuming it is in decent condtion to begin with. Plus the added expense, difficulty fo shipping the vessel to the US. Don't you have enough other (unknown) things to deal with already?

Yes! I do have enough to deal with already. Then to add the distance, electric stuff, wood and so on...

This stupid boat has been driving me nuts for months....

You are facing two problems... One is a wooden boat (Enough said)...

The other is if you purchase the boat you have no idea if it is sea worthy for an Atlantic Crossing. If you choose to ship (Dockwise or whatever) you will spend big bucks.

Unless you are willing to fly to Europe and spend some time there to get the boat ready for a crossing, which should be figured into your budget...

I would say no to the Broker or lower the Low Ball Price another 20% and say sorry that was last week's offer.

That is NOT a tough decision. First the boast is wood and second its in Europe

Third, you will likely have to redo the AC electrical systems. Europe has different voltages.
