Re: Toilet paper and head clog

As I have a holding tank, I really don't want to find out the hard way if paper was to block it. Maybe if I had an electric with a macerator I'd consider.

I have no ideas about the regulations in Greece about TP, but I'm under the impression that bagging it is the norm on and off shore

I also have a holding tank, no macerator, and the tank is gravity dump. 7 years, no clogs. No bagging of tp.

Maybe I should for my own curiosity put some TP in a bucket of seawater and see how much it breaks up.

Hoppy... no need to drop it into a bucket.. just pull into marinas like Agua Dulce and others with clear water and look over the side..
No turds down there.. the mullet scoff it all and grow fat for 'Tourist Tapa'.. but the clumps of Bog Roll are all over.. some slowly moving over the rocks as the sea urchins its landed on make their way around the bottom..

But this is an entirely different prospect than your initial claim that it's not civilised to have anything but western sit on toilets.
True statement that we are spoiled for squatting by western toilets but having lived in southeast asia for most of my adult life, I always thought it was funny how on the elderly there the knee skin hung down like a double chin from having been stretched over the knee frequently. Would make for an interesting topic of discussion around the first tee of a Florida retirement center golf course.

If you've been reading along, you will find that different brands react differently so don't assume that your test results will be valid for all brands.

As I posted above, I've been using "Scotts" brand single ply tissue for several years and if it did not break down, my holding tank would be full of paper by now.

Re: Toilet paper and head clog

what is hilarious is to see some of these replies stating how 'gross' it is to bag TP, yet these same people apparently see nothing nasty in carrying around a tank full of fecal and urinary slurry...

False assumtion.

We flush, macerate and forget.... and let the fish and micro organisms take care of things.

My fecal slurry lives in a plastic tank vented to the outside. TP in a bag is vented to the inside.

I live inside, and prefer not to smell the fecal matter in a bag while having breakfast.

You are pretty easy to amuse. The poop is in a tank away from living areas.

Most cities prohibit putting fecal matter in trash or garbage cans. So what do you do with bagged toilet paper and poop?

I've been wondering what folks with composting toilets do with "it" as well, and I don't mean just the TP

Re: Toilet paper and head clog

The ones I've seen in Canada take it ashore, have a "campfire" someplace, and bury the rest or just throw it into the bushes.
No thanks, I'll stick to nuking the lot of it with electricity.
