Well yes... We cruised the NW Caribbean on 2 Mantas(1 sail, 1 Power)... Both 2 Q Staterooms, 1 Friendly double, 2 full service heads, Galley up main salon where we have served dinner to 8, a cockpit level salon that seats 12 + Captain & Mate. Our largest on board dinner was a impromptu party for 17 fellow cruisers in the Bahamas. OBTW Outside of your parameters, the best shower is aft on the steps where you come out of the water and the Million acre hot tub called the Caribbean! When you cruise, the interior spaces are excellent, the exterior are superb! You need to look closer at Manta 44' Power Cat "PANGAEA" FOR SALE BY OWNER BASICS

can't speak of the Manta, but I don't like my friends sailing cat as the hull spaces are just too tube like.

Cruising Speed: 8 knots @ 2.5 Gph, 15 knots @ 10 Gph
...
Fuel Tanks: (500 Gallons)
They are claiming 1600 NMs @ 8kts and 750NMs at 10kts.

Thats total fuel range. Planning range is usually considered to be 2/3 of that.

Or 1067 NMs at 8 kts and 500nms at 10kts.

That's a pretty good assessment... except 10 knots is a bad speed for a Manta. PANGAEA planes at 15 knots burning 10 GPH. Efficiency goes down at speeds above hull speed that are below plane speed.

Regarding the small hulls on friends sail cat... We lived on our 2 Manta cats for 13 years and never felt claustrophobic! Check it out, you will be happily surprised. Manta 44' Power Cat "PANGAEA" FOR SALE BY OWNER BASICS

With about the same fuel economy as a jet fighter on afterburners.

can't tell for sure...but it doesn't seem too different...the main span spaces are great...but I just don't like the spaces in the hulls

Re: The Perfect Atlantic Intracoastal Vacation Boat

Hey all! Yep, bringing this thread back from the dead with my update. I did get the 1972 Egg and although I didn't do any big trips to date, love the boat! She is in great shape but constantly needing some attention which is to be expected given her age and construction. Lot's of interior teak needing refinishing and topsides made of wood needing some minor repair. I will be doing all new exhaust on both engines in the next month, to the fun tune of about $5000 but with that, knock on wood, she should run really well for years to come. My wife and I enjoy the space she affords and are now making plans for the future (10 plus years) to snow bird with her and travel tons. Although I still think I would like a larger trawler in the 46-50 foot range. She is spacious but I guess I am just a hard chap to please. lol
Hope you are all well and having a good start to 2012. Hope Spring comes fast and Summer even faster!!!!

Re: The Perfect Atlantic Intracoastal Vacation Boat

Hi NY GIN,

Glad to hear you are enjoying your boat.

The Egg that I had found for you last year at 74000$ is still on Yacht world and is now listed at 54000$

Time does change a lot of things...

And it still wouln't sell and come May it will be reduced to $40 and then, maybe, she will sell. This economy sucks!!! I am getting ready to sell my other boat in the next few weeks; 2003 Rinker 270 Fiesta Vee. Loaded and a real beauty. Prob wouln't get more than $25 for it when "book value" is bw $37 and $43.
