The Boat's Mine!

So yesterday was one of the two happiest days of my life, according to the Old Saw about boaties. The Roberts Longboat is mine; she's resting peacefully at my friend's jetty. I had a little adventure bringing her home - not an epic journey, mind you, from Hope Harbour to Runaway Bay, but an adventure for me nevertheless. Fighting a flood tide and a headwind, with the chart plotter quitting after 20 minutes the brave mariner fought on, reaching safe harbour in an hour and a half. Now the M/V Naiad will rest for two weeks whilst I attend a few meetings in Sydney. Then the adventure will continue. May all our adventures be safe ones, and thanks for the advice on the surveyor and the radios...

Don

Re: The Boat's Mine!

Congratulations then. My father bought one of those when he came out from England to live here. he bought a house on the canals in Broadbeach Waters and would motor it up to the broadwater. Good little boat. Have some fun out there, we were out sailing our little 20 footer on the South side of Moreton Bay today and it was lovely out there, clear blue skies and 14 knots of wind and 35 degrees, smashing.

Coops.

Re: The Boat's Mine!

Oops! I've been back from Sydney for a few days but didn't get around to posting this picture. I'll have to take some more soon.

I took the boat back to the brokers and they helped me sort out the chart plotter. Turns out it is piggybacked onto the windlass' circuit so I need to keep that on. Everything's fine now. I went to the Gold Coast Marine Expo over the weekend and looked at a few VHF sets. I'm planning to pick one up tomorrow at Marinonics at Runaway Bay. Hoping to go out fishing tomorrow afternoon...looks like it's going to be a nice day out there.
