Rudder Tube

Hi all

I hope you can help

I have a Tamar 2000 and the steering was getting very tight.

The rudder tube is GRP and the top is well above waterline.

On removing the rudder I expected to find some type of gland or bearing top and bottom but there is just the tube no bearings etc is this the norm.

The rudder tube has no seals and no way to lubricate.

The tightning seems to be from deposits on the shaft itself which i can clean now but I want to ensure that it does not repeat.

Any solutions please

Thanks
