With 6 kw of solar panels, you could live the A/C lifestyle on the hook with no genset usage. The galley is fully electric, even using an induction cook top.

Yeah, I was on that boat, either Miami or Fort Lauderdale boat show. Neat concept, but I have to agree that it was a poorly thought out design. I told the company's owner he was really pioneering a new concept but my real thoughts were nice try amigo but no cigar.

The other thing is that it was supposed to have some amazing numbers, I think 50 mpg or something, it ended up about the same as a lot of other boats.

I think that there are better ways to integrate the panels but frankly a sail works pretty good to make way for free. The main advantage I can see for a boat like that is on the hook. No generator burn.

I know a guy with an Endeavor 48 Catamaran motor cruiser (the one made in Clearwater, FL) with extra panels, he claims he never turns on the generator even for AC.

Yeah, I think that is a major failing of the design. Trying to do too much in too small of a boat. It would have made a much better 50 or 60 footer.

Probably would have been better to take an existing super efficient design and put a huge fixed roof with panels on it.

To give the guy his due, he has a bigger one on the drawing board, not sure if it ever got made. Good luck to him though, wish more folks would be innovating new ways of doing things.

Forget the Hybrid for a boat in salt water, they definitely work but indefinitely.
Get yourself information on using multi fuels in your standard diesel engine and you can reduce your costs enormously.
