I see what you mean but I just caught onto this thread and back on page two Wilpower posted on his cat.Bribie Island is a small place of about 20K people and we probably live a kilometre or so apart.Just tickled my fancy on a mainly USA based site.

If you are into trailerable off shore capable power cats, the offerings are increasing due to their economy of operation.

Bob Oram the designer of Wilpower's cat achieved very similar figures with a 40ft powercat. Unfortunately he has taken down his website and the video of it. He drew up the design for Wilpowers vessel and some longer versions after successfully testing his 40ft powercat.

It's a sail cat.Older boat but we have only had it a couple of months and not many pics yet and will post a couple pics when I figure how to resize the photos

Been playing around with the idea of incorporating a flybridge option to Trawler Cat without effecting the Express style look. Came across some classic style flybridge setups that wanted some thoughts about. Seems very practical and with some modifications could be made more comfortable but unobtrusive.. Also seems like Dashew put his own spin on the original idea when creating his FPB flybridges?







Could it be pulled of cleanly on the MP52-Trawler...

I think a usable fly deck is a huge advantage. It allows people to spread out more, gives more living space at a minimum of cost, increases visibility at the upper station, and for those who like to lay in the sun, removes a lot of the difficulties of trying to do so elsewhere.

In fact my current powerboat is really nothing more that a huge fly deck with a bow attached (Bluewater yacht 5800).

I also really like what Dashew did with his. A kinda of outside living room that can be enclosed when desired is the best of all worlds.

Probably a good idea. Most buyers of motor cruisers desire flying bridges. The minority, like me, don't. Don't want the extra windage, expense, exaggeration of boat movement, and having already experienced my share of open-cockpit piloting, desire the protection of being inside.

I think there is a difference between having a fly-bridge and piloting from the fly-bridge.



This is the concept I like, but wish the rear bridge was covered with a flat solar panel roof (and had a wheel like most Catamarans do).

Here is a render of the 48 we are building with the bridge and hardtop.
The 3 , 290 watt solar panels will be mounted on the hardtop.

They have been fine tuned since these were done, and we have the foam on order to build it, and I will post pictures as we do.

A colleagues recent sailing cat conversion to power. Based on a viva sailing cat that had a lightweight pod cabin house added and outboards mounted on transoms and modified to have reverse bow design. This 30ft? cat with twin 15HP outboards it cruises at 15knots and tops out at 18knots. Gets a "claimed 8 -10 MPG" at cruise speed. No squatting issues with sailing hulls up to 18 knots. This is probably the 20th boat he has built or modified.

Agreed with Dashew how went about it. Most of his vessels had hardtop with solar panels a basic setup and ability to catch water as part of the package.
