Power Cat Comparison

For all you power cat experts here. I've been looking at both the Fountain Pajot and Leopard Power Cats.

Spcifically the FP Cumberland 47LC and the Leopard 51PC...

Both very nice boats for sure. In terms of amenities they seem to be quite comparable. Dimensions on the Leopard are slightly larger, but it doesn't appear that either is any more spacious than the other. I have no idea on performance for either. The FP claims long range but I'm guessing that the fact that it carries 50% more fuel has a lot to do with that.

Anyway, I can't figure out why the FP seems to be around 50% more expensive. Is it a brand thing, or have they done something to justify it?

Re: Power Cat Comparison

I looked at both and just placed an order for the Leopard 51PC couple of weeks ago in Fort Lauderdale. Cost, quality, number of hulls being built (including those used in charter), and discussions with vendors who worked on cats all lead to our decision to go with Leopard. Delivery however will be July 2015 due to orders ahead of mine. The 48 Leopard sailing catamaran is the same hull as the 51 but due to larger diesels the LOA is larger for the PC.
