Re: New Bob Oram Design

Any one who has built or is building any of the Oram designs on the US East Coast?

Re: New Bob Oram Design

Hi Epiphany - I have looked at Bob Orams designs for a few years and would like to build one of his boats. The timing is not just right yet - I am in Toronto Canada. Are you fairly close to doing a build?

Re: New Bob Oram Design

I would not be ready to build before next spring at the very earliest but I want to see one of the vessels either completed or better yet under construction. I am in South Florida. The only boats I have seen that are even remotely similar are Kit-Cats in Merrit Island FL. I am planning to have a 30-40' trawler cat or tri.

Re: New Bob Oram Design

Congratulations, Wilpower

She looks good on water. How does she perform.

You could cruise anywhere on the GBR with her, all way up to Lizard Is if you wished.

Have a great Christmas cruise.

Willpower You will "standout" as something different & I will look forward to seeing your boat out on the water when the weather becomes more suitable to the idea of a nice day out in the bay!!

Thumbs up Re: New Bob Oram Design

Thanks for all the kind comments.
I am thrilled with her.
The boat is finished to sail away only with nav lights, windlass and motors working. We have had 10 guests over Xmas with the two double bunks in use. Today had my first daylight outing to test the anchor system.
It was gusting 15kts and a bit choppy but already I can feel how good she will be as a sea boat. Very dry with no spray and very stable . I'm very happy. No pictures for you of the interior as she's a construction site but the cabin feels very spacious with very good all round visibility.

Thought you might be interested seeing my cruise north to Lizard (as you predicted). At Airlie Beach at present.

Re: New Bob Oram Design

When do you expect to be back at Bribie? The old "GoldRush" will be leaving 14th Sept. for points North.
