Looking for opinion about 1995 19' Bayliner Capri Cuddy 1952

We're having a survey done today on a 1995 19' Bayliner Capri Cuddy 1952. Looking for any input on this boat. Buy it? Don't buy it? Inherent problems? Positives/Negatives? Any input appreciated. Thanks!

What engine? IMHO many of the 19foot cuddy cabin Bayliners are underpowered. As you know Jetliner is an entry level boat but do provide Bang for the buck.

If it is powered by chance with a Force 125 HP outboard I would stay away.

If it looks clean and has a 3.0 litre Merc Cruiser it will be am ok boat. If it has a 4.3 litre Merc Cruiser engine it will be a fun boat.

I looked at that size boat a few times and thought the camper canvas was a nifty thing making it a swell overnighter.

Force outboards are OK but not the greatest. The 3.0 would likely work fine but won;t be quick. It's a durable engine but not very smooth. The 4.3 would be a good match.

These seem a little better built then earlier bayliners, bayliners are well engineered boats but were on the value end of the market. On any small power boat of that age I would pay close attention to the Transom and Floors. I know bayliner shifted to less wood some time in the 90's but not sure what year it took place.

The survey found rot at the transom. Soft enough to push right through. Pass! We'll keep shopping. Thanks for the input.

We made one mistake, buying a smaller boat without a survey. We paid and paid for that one. Never again. We're fortunate to have a fantastic surveyor here in Portland, OR and we'll never buy any type of boat without him taking a look at it first. As they say, buyer beware!
