Looking for Moorage Around Vancouver BC

We are thinking of buying a 30' motor boat and we are looking at options for storage and moorage around Vancouver, Bowen, Sechelt, Bellingham and south Vancouver Island.

Ideally we store it on land for 7 months winter; we could provide a tent structure. Access to power would be nice.

Then for 5 months we moor it near our home (Coquitlam). How near will be a factor of cost and availability.

Any suggestions for reasonably priced moorage and storage?

The dry storage at Laconner (Port of Skagit County Marina....a little further south, near Anacortes) is $116 per month US for a 30 footer. Last I heard the haul out was free......

Shelter Island Marina,Richmond B.C.,all facilities,,all welcome.
Also Upriver, many places to store and work on your vessel cheap,,,involves haul out and transport to site though.

The moorage here is outrageous! Please keep us updated as we're planning to buy an under 30 too. Talked to Burrard yesterday about a sublease spot and they charge 30% for the sublease, a cash grab of $100+ a month!

You might try Sunset Marina in Howe Sound. It's a dryland storage facility but several folk we have known over the years have put it to good use.

Re: Looking for Moorage Around Vancouver BC

Everything here has been sown up by the Realtors and Land Speculators (Governments in bed with all of them) so unless you wish to travel up the Fraser River, or go up the Sunshine Coast, you wont find much that is affordable.
Most slips are Grandfathered and sold or transferred with the boat which last occupied them.
There are lower cost Moorages but like i said be prepared to leave the Howe Sound and False creek, and Richmond area's.

Good Luck!!

Check out the marina at Point Roberts. It is cheaper than the Vancouver area. It is about an hour plus border wait time from Coquitlam and last I heard they had slips in the 30 foot range available. That's where I keep my boat and I live in Port Coquitlam.

Have you tried Pitt Marina in Pitt Meadows, they have dry storage with power and will allow you to put up a tent to protect your boat, they also have moorage
there I do not know there per ft charge. I keep my boat under the Golden Ears bridge at a very cheap rate.

Good luck

Re: Looking for Moorage Around Vancouver BC

some of the comments above would put you in the US. I keep my boat in the water at La Conner, Wa. too and it is a fast drive down I-5 fron the border. You can keep a boat in washington state for 6 months each year by buying a few cruising permits. We found it to be much cheaper to keep our boat In the Victoria area in North Sanich. We could fly right in or take the Swartz Bay Ferry to Vancover. You are right in the Gulf islands as you leave the dock.
