What model of Hatteras 53 are you considering? I have skippered a 46 flybridge gamefisher with Detroits and it was a great sea boat.

PLenty of info on the Hatteras owner's forum ( they know the answer to every question.
The Hatt 53 is very popular and the support from other owners is great. These are built like tanks but like any old boat have their quirks that may or may not have already been addressed. The Detroits are easy to repair and well known for their reliability when maintained.
Nice boats, good luck.
Keep the dirty side down!
