Freeport to Nassau

Season's Greetings everyone...

I have our trawler in Freeport Bahamas and looking to get down to Nassau and then Exuma's.

Wondering what the experienced folks would recommend for a decent route?? Follow the Grand Bahama coastline?, Down to the Berry's then across ?, straight across to Nassau??

I travel at about 10-12knts and have a range just over 400 miles so not really concerned about that. Would like to get to the northern Exuma's sooner than later...

The safest route would be to head SE to leave Great Harbour Cay to the South, then turn S. and stay in the deep Water East of the Berry Islands. If you choose to proceed West of the Berry's, you need good light while crossing the bank. That area has many coral heads that can ruin your day. There are several good anchorages accessable from the East side of the Berry's if you choose to stop over the night. 118nm door to door, at 10-12 knots its a long day. A nice stop is Little Harbour Cay. Dinghy in to Flo's Conch Bar!
