Find My Boat - $5,000 REWARD!!!

This is just a shot in the dark, but what the heck, can’t hurt to try.

I am offering a $5,000 finders fee to anyone who introduces me to the boat that will be my first boat purchase. The boat must be a boat that I have NOT already seen and CANNOT be a boat that is listed on Yachtworld. I check Yachtworld every day for new listings, so I will see it myself. However, I sometimes miss boats that are posted on other boat for sale listing websites.

The reason that I came up with this reward idea was because when I was in Florida viewing the boat that I wanted to buy, but lost to someone else, the broker showed me a pocket-listing. (A pocket-listing is a boat that is not formerly listed for sale.) This boat was not for me, but gorgeous nonetheless. The broker told me that many good boats, never hit the market. They are sometimes held as pocket listings, such as the one that he showed me, and sometimes they are for sale by owner. I would never know about any of these boats. Therefore, I am offering this reward to anyone who can find my boat.

Looking for:
55-70′
Raised Pilothouse
At least 3 staterooms
Steel or Fiberglass
Trawler/Expedition Style
Long Range
Passagemaking Capability
List Price not to exceed around $600k

Hiya GG! Go to Annapolis boat show, and "sample/test sail" every design that will fit your need. Concentrate on cost per cubic feet of space/storage, and ease of accessability/serviceability of ALL systems on board; everything else being equal. Save your finders fees money! Good luck!

I was planning on going, but probably won't be able to. My house is supposed to close on the first, so I have to finish moving out and all that good stuff. I was looking forward to it too. But, I am going to the Newport show for sure, that's just up the road

Can I just post craigslist ads, and get 5,000 if one is a winner?

Not a problem.
Simply list the parameters involved for the vessel you want.
NO LATER AMENDMENTS ALLOWED!

Have you seen this one, what charm!
I didn't read all the details, but one thing of note, the owner seemed very willing
to do all he can to help you with the boat AFTER you buy it.

For five large I'll keep my eyes open.

Why not just snag a nordhavn? There are some 10 year old used ones going for 500k.

I thought of the Annapolis Powerboat Show, too, but if you look at the list of boats that will be on display, there aren't many at all in the class GG is looking for.

GG, you might want to check out the 2013 Trawler Fest, scheduled for Baltimore later this month. Even though you're looking for a used boat, it would be a great opportunity to see what's out there (new) and to talk with dealers and manufacturers' reps.

Re: Find My Boat - $5,000 REWARD!!!

hehe ... I've heard this one before. No one ever seems to pay out.

If she wants us to take her seriously she would put the 5K in 3rd party escrow, payable to the documented 1st notifier on this site of the boat she eventually buys.

Anything else is just meaningless posturing.

What a misleading (or is it my imagination?) thread title. I figured someone stole your boat! Good luck with the search. Have you checked out Boats and Harbors? It's more commercially based but other stuff pops in too. http://www.boats-and-harbors.com/
