Not interested in the $5K but here's a thought:
Take a short road trip to New Bedford. There are several larger vessels (not fishing boats!!) that have been tied up at Pope's Marina and around that area for some time. Might be worth while to ask around, perhaps on your way to Newport next week. Just walk the dock and ask. Ask around at Niemec Marine and Fairhaven Shipyard. Incidentally, some of the fishing boats are quite pretty and are mostly idle these days -- though they may smell fishy!!

I want to thank everyone who has been scouring the net in search of my first boat. I really appreciate the time and effort. I have had many boats brought to my attention these past few days that I have not seen yet. Our family will live on the boat, including my 5 kids, so it is very important to me that I get it right.
Our plan is to hang around here in Boston as liveaboards for a year or so until I am fully competent at the operation of the boat, then take off cruising. International travel is the goal.
A good friend/advisor suggested that I post a few photos of the style of boat that I am looking for as a guide. I thought this was a great idea.

This boat is unbelievable. I almost bought it, but came to my senses at the last minute because it is wood. I am avoiding WOOD.

(A pocket-listing is a boat that is not formerly listed for sale.) This boat was not for me, but gorgeous nonetheless. The broker told me that many good boats, never hit the market. They are sometimes held as pocket listings, such as the one that he showed me, and sometimes they are for sale by owner. I would never know about any of these boats. Therefore, I am offering this reward to anyone who can find my boat.
