not sure about that.....some 50 foot something trawers do the trip on around 2000 gallons at $4 is a lot less than $20,000. Maybe a megayacht but simple trawler no...unless you push the throttle up instead of back.

maybe diesel is going up in Europe...still pretty steady along the US Atlantic Seaboard for somewhere's between $3.5-$4 a gallon.

i have been informed that diesel is $10 a gallon in the UK, and most of the EU now. yes if staying in the US easy coast they are about $4.29- $4.69, as per my trip 2 weeks ago.

and she is looking at a 60' chris craft roamer. a 60GPH semi.

i would like to see how she will make a passage with a 400-500 mile range thou.....

Even if you average the prices you were still way high...and the word you used was trawler....not gasser motoryacht....that's is something I'll guess she's starting to grasp.

plus I bet even in the UK...you start buying 2000 gallons at a whack...there are discounts to be had...especially with cash.

thats a great idea!!!!!
i will get 4 800' barges, form a square flotilla, marina in the center, shelter in the ocean...
we would sell diesel and ice pops!
oh, and we could sell chips!
then people who buy powerboats could make the hop, and sailors could stop and sleep before they keep going with no lights on, single handed, across the ocean!!!

Fiberglass takes abuse and doesn't need much in maintenance unless you're actively putting holes in it. Don't paint gelcoat, it's a grand conspiracy. Gelcoat looks great on it's own with a minimum of buffing. Get white or off-white; colored hulls = neutral gelcoat = pain in the arse to properly colormatch on the fly.

GG:
If you had done the research you would not be asking the questions your are asking. They are mostly easily answered with a click of your mouse. You might have a totally different set of questions. But, heck, what is for dinner??

Re: Fiberglass maintenance?

Hey Scoob! I can make some baklava to LIVE for; my great-grand mother's recipe. One pound of baklava, when finished, weighs about 3.5 lbs.; calories, I do not count. It just takes about 90 min to prepare. Chocolate chip vs baklava...hummm...not sure they are on the same footings, with all due respect to the lady of the house; as long as you don't ask me for the recipe, I'm OK with a trade...one of these days!
