East coast of Florida - how often do you see Dolpins?

Just wondering off the east coast of Florida - Daytona area when you are running how often do you see dolphin playing in the board wake?

Do you see Manatee in the winter months? What else do you guys see?

Counting the days until I can get out there. Now stuck on the west coast in Crystal River where the Gulf water is really super thin.

Here you see dolphin and manatee.

Saw manatees about two weeks ago in the Ormond Beach area, just north of Daytona. In winter they usually head to warmer water, such as various springs, power plants, Crystal River lol, etc.
Dolphins on the ICW pretty much daily, frequently around the inlets, sometimes farther offshore.

Re: East coast of Florida - how often do you see Dolpins?

There are mantee still here in the Homosassa River and in Kings Bay Crystal River. Dolphin are seen here but rare. Seems the east coast will have more dolphin but fewer manatee.

Saw 9 dolphin in a circle hearding fish then a bunch of splashing as they were probably feeding. Then another circle then spashing.

Manatee here in the winter...they are all over place. I see dozens when I kayak the Kings Bay and Three Sister Springs area.

One of the best places in Florida to see dolphins is Pine Island Sound east of Sanibel and Captiva Islands. They are also some of the biggest that I've seen anywhere.

Dolphins are seen frequently, had a pod of about 20 riding the bow wave a few years ago when we were 50 miles out.
Manatees are mostly found in the Intercoastal and during the winter they stay near the water outlet of local power plants so as to stay warm.

Absolutely. We have a semi resident dolphin that eats or at least hunts for his/her meals in front of our condo daily in Daytona
Manatees are common and when we lived aboard would bump the boat bottom in our slip. There was a pair mating in front of the marina office too one time ( I didn't look, honest!) underway locally the dolphins are around often, but the manatees are mostly seen in shallower water than in the channel.

Have you guys thought of contributing your sightings to the citizen science project called WhaleMapp. It asks for sightings of all marine mammals from seals and otters to manatees and dolphins.

The dolphins are everywhere, especially ICW and inlets. Still see plenty more offshore. Manatees are in that area seasonally. We had 5 in the waters of our marina a few weeks ago!!

It's nothing but dolphins and manatees.

Like seeing a squirrel in other parts of the country, only more common.

Saw dolphins today on our sail North from Hillsboro inlet - about 3/4 mile off the beach in Highland Beach, FL (between Boca Raton and Delray Beach).
