Dps-m metallic shavings in lower gear house

So I just picked up a used leg volvopenta does-m and when I picked it up the shear cupler was split so I pulled the upper and lower apart and when I replaced the sleeve I noticed a few small pieces of the cast housing had cracked off and must have gone down into the lower gear house so I filled with oil and flushed it noticed small metallic shaveings in the oil should I be concerned or do you think that the hardens metal gears and bearings would chew up that cast aluminum?
