ahhh yes... i should have guessed. this is by the architect Zaha Hadid. I won't speak to the "beauty" of it...
as to the why: the "honeycomb" exoskeleton as a design strategy could be a way to deal with structural issues of interior deck
levels, bring light deep into the interior
and an interior play of volumetric spaces.... thru the holes in the "licorice".
this isn't a 40 foot yacht, so the possibilities change.
as a structural exercise, there is really nothing new here. architects/engineers have been playing with this sort of thing for a long time.
the curvy aspect of it is just a stylistic signature of Hadid....and not very interesting in my opinion.
and the only thing new for Hadid is it's a boat.
