Re: cruising the homosassa and/or crystal rivers

Look at what used to be called the cross Florida barge canal. At Hy19 bridge there are camp grounds on both the North and South side. There even is a boat ramp with docks just past the bridge.

Re: cruising the homosassa and/or crystal rivers

We're currently on the Withlacoochee in Yankeetown, the river is only passable for another few miles. We spent two months at Pete's Pier and have been to Rock Crusher in our RV. They are not what we would consider close enough unless one party has a vehicle to travel. I did not get the impression that was what the OP was looking for. Chuck

Yep, a good spot. It's in our Gulf Coast anchorage book. If you anchor in the canal, it's a good idea to use a Bahamian moor. The tidal current is strong enough to keep you in the middle of the canal but at slack water with a cross wind you can get pushed toward the banks. Nature Coast RV and River Lodge RV parks are nearby but they are full during the winter season. Nature Coast are condo lots and rented by the owners. Chuck
