Don't be afraid of Vovlo's. While, yes,
parts are more expensive because they don't get tax breaks and
parts have to come overseas, the
core of that 63
motor has been around for 40+ years and has more than proven it's ability. Parts are readily available if you know where to look. Still, when it comes to one over the other, you need to worry less about the badge on the
motor and more about which one was cared for the best.
We had more than one Cruisers on our list when
shopping last year. Other than thinking they are a little on the ugly side ;-) Once we started getting onboard them, the big thing that took it off the list was engine room access. It was far to cramped for me to ever get in to
work on very much. It, and the sister-styled
Sea Ray boats, (Express Bridge?) suffer the same issue.
Interior layout is nice and fit and finish are good, but no matter how much I liked the rest of the boat, I never could get past the tiny engine compartment.
If memory serves, they have cored hulls, but I am not 100% on that.
