Caribbean Circumnavigation completed

For anyone interested:

4 months and 4 days short of 3 years we have crossed our wake in the Bahamas. What typically should look like a circle is a little wanky because I avoided Venezuela. Single engine, full displacement trawler. Spent more on food, booze, insurance etc. then I did on fuel. Still have 1000+ miles to go to finish the trip in Baltimore in October.

Wife has kept a very detailed blog (although a few months behind)

Good on you, how big a trawler? How many hours on the engine, which engine?
What’s next?

Re: Caribbean Circumnavigation completed

Took a quick look at the destination list and didn't see St Martin or Saba. Any reason why you skipped these?

1984 42’ Kadey Krogen (after major refit, also covered in blog). I replacd the Ford Lehman 120 with a remanufactured. Currently just over 1400hrs. Next....go home and fill up the cruising kitty, pretty low on cash after refit, cruising, and not working for 5 yrs.

We did go to Saba (loved it), and Statia (just OK). You do need good weather for both! We did skip St. Martin, it really didn’t appeal to us before the storm, and less so afterwards. We enjoyed all the other French Islands and most other cruisers said only redeeming value was if you needed boat work, which we didn’t.

The blog is in my signature but here it is again:

Fell free to ask any other questions, or if you want me to point you to a specific area of the blog my wife has kept.
