Canvas Top to Fiberglass

I have a 1997 Cruisers 3650 and am considering replacing canvas top with fiberglass. Is there anyone out there who has done this and, if so, was it a custom fabrication or were you able to fit some other hardtop to this platform? Thanks so much for any assistance.

I've heard of someone converting a fiberglass pickup truck bedcover into a hard top. Sounds inexpensive.

Re: Canvas Top to Fiberglass

There are cruisers here that have replaced canvas with fiberglass, but in the end it was very expensive.
You may want to think about screwing sheets of Azek to your bimini tubing.

I did it last year on my catamaran and it has worked out great.
You can attach bolt rope channel underneath for a full enclosure

I checked the Home Depot price:
3/8x4x8 sheet is $94.97 ea.

It's PVC and it's used for exterior house trim so I guess it must be UV resistant?
price is so low you could replace it every year if you had too.

I might find a use for this stuff myself

Re: Canvas Top to Fiberglass

Azek has a nice factory satin finish that you do not have to do anything with.
You can use standard wood working tools. Its very easy to work with.
You can use silicon on Azek.

Azek is weather proof.

AZEK Warranty - will be free from manufacturing defects that cause the Product to rot, corrode, delaminate, or excessively swell from moisture for a period of twenty-five (25) years

Re: Canvas Top to Fiberglass

I went from canvas to a 10x15 aluminum top on my 45 bayliner cost was $12000 but I would do it again in a second. Mounted my radar, satelitte, antennas and solar panels plus it never leaks. I will try to post a picture

Hardtotop.com might have what you are looking for. I have not purchased or even seen this product but when my canvas goes it will be the first thing i consider.
