Canaveral to Jersey Coast...Any Advice?

Recently bought a 53 Hatteras Conv in Cape Canaveral and I am looking to run her back to New Jersey in March. This will be my first trip up the coast. Any advice you have would be helpful. (i.e. ports to stay in, inside/outside preferences or experiences) I am planning on a 7-8 day passage..is that about right?
