Bilge Pump

hi new to this site not sure if i am on the right site i have brought a boat to go on the broads to do some fishing i wont to fit a bilge pump i have the pump which is 12v i would like to have it so i can take a battery on the boat when we go fishing and connect it up by clips but i wont it to go through a switch but not shore how to do this can any one help please this is the first boat i have had if every thing works out then i would like to get a bigger one next year thanks in advance.

Hi Carpy:

Welcome aboard. There are countless ways to do what you propose. I would get a 12v battery that has screw on posts for the pos anneg sides of the battery. Then buy an adapter like you get for a car trailer that is flat and has four plugs. wire one side to the bilge pump and the other to the battery when you want to pump on all you need to do is plug the pump into the connector when you want it off then you can unplug it. as an alternative you can put a switch in the poistive wire.
