20ft Boat Hauling from RI to FL

Hey, any suggestions on the cheapest way to bring a boat on a trailer from RI to FL. I seems that if I do it my self or pay someone it will be about 2,000. It costs that much from me to do it myself since my truck is in FL and my boat is in RI, so I have to drive it up. I just brought it up there in June and it cost 2,000. I am starting to look into a cheaper way to bring it back down in November. This time I think it will stay in FL.

Check with one of the big rv dealers in your area. There is a cottage industry of rv trailer movers. Some are real pros and that is all they do. Others are Mom and Pops who pick up a load from time to time. Sounds a bit like boat delivery captains doesn't it!

Caveat emptor!!

That is the time of year when the snowbirds drive south. Perhaps you can advertise for someone to drive it down for you. I am sure someone would like to have their fuel costs covered for the trip. You didn't mention the weight, but at 20 ft, most small SUV's should be able to pull it.

Check with Florida boat delivery companies to see if they have any boats being delivered to RI. You might get a deal on their return trip if they are dead heading. We did that once with a 37' Tayana.
