pirate Yard Bill Blues

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who related this story.

Guy has wood boat....Takes to yard to get bottom done.....Yard launches vessel....guy wants to be assured that the boat will be in the slings till it swells.....he was charged $250.00 per hour for 48 hours of hang time (over a weekend) which equals $12,000 plus cost of doing bottom.

every yard i have ever been to charges around that for hang time. Time is definetely money when it comes to travel lift time, especially with yards that only have one lift, that's 2 days without being able to yank any boats. We were just in a local yard for 8 days, i don't think i ever saw the lift idle during business hours. Too bad they couldn't cut him some slack on the after hours hours though

Did they ask about charges before they hung the boat in the slings...?

I have done the wooden boat blues as well and have hung in the slings overnight, but never paid any extra fees. (Idle time for the travel lift anyway)

The above scenario seems kind of hare-brained....
