i think earning the right to forget is positive---30+yrs working overtime in the intensive care areas, and emergency rooms , SOLELY. I EARNED IT. TOO BAD YER FAMILY PLACED HER IN A HOME-- SHE SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN not to , if she REALLY didnt wanna be there-- YOU DO control your own destiny. even if ye cant remember....
i have had perfectly sweet lil ole ladies sit bolt upright yelling"DONT YOU HOOLIGANS USE THOSE (EFFING) THINGS ON ME, DAMMIT!! damn near craked me up while on code blue call to "save" her.

Well I know it sounds bad but she is actually very happy now, we wanted to keep her with us but she needs 27/7 care. The plus side she has stopped saying she wants to die and wants to live longer because she is so much happyier now.
Understandably doesn't want to face the reality we all face in growing old.
Anyway live long and sail far Zee I'm sure you have earned it, just make sure you have all the answers writtened down when they start asking you if you know what day it is and you can't remenber for real.

Sometimes I think the subconcious will make a decision...Next thing you know things are happening. I can recall many times that has happened to me. Sudden job changes, deciding to have kids ect ect. I feel such things stirring now. Last time I moved it was like that...For now I work on the boat and sail when I can, waiting....one day there will be a hell of a yard sale.

I am like some of the others, I still have to keep track of the day and time. I let my watch take care of that, I don't really pay attention more than I have to, once I get aboard full time I will put the watch in the navigation locker and only look at it when I am getting a fix on a noon sight. For now the logs must be kept properly. I do envy those of you whom have crossed the line and are enjoying the fruits of your labors, I have 2 years left, or 6 more hitches which ever makes it easier for me to swallow at the time.

This brings up a question in my mind. I've been hoping someone else would bring it up in case the answer is like really obvious. Joking aside, if one were offshore, navigating the old fashioned way with just a chronometer, sextant and paper charts wouldn't one need to keep serious track of at least the date to know where the stars and sun are supposed to be in order to know one's location? I'm just dipping into celestial navigatioon and haven't studied it seriously yet, so don't beat me up too bad on this. Although I can take it if you do.

During long passages in the navy, the days always blurred together and labels became superfluous, but it was generally possible to determine the day of the week based on the menu - Thursday = steak night, Friday = fish day, Sunday = roast beef, etc.
