This is new!

I did this yesterday. I once read that you should ALWAYS ware shoes on deck. I now agree with that statment because I broke my toe at the mast first thing out yesterday.

Hope it heals fast!

I always wear shoes while sailing, and sometimes do not when lounging. My partner avoids shoes aboard whenever possible. He claims he can grip better and feel better.
Having broken a couple toes ( not sailing) a long time ago, I can attest to the fact that there is absolutely nothing to reccommend this activity. That keeps me wearing shoes while sailing or working on the boat.
Cheers

Shoes

The lack of wearing shoes should be reserved for those folks who can naturally go barefoot, to those who have experience going barefoot, to those that can stand on a rock ledge by their toes alone, to those that can hang by their toes, to those that can sense the feel of the ground. This rules out North Americans but does include Kiwis.

Going barefoot should be done by anyone who damn well wants to on his own boat.

Gulfmermaid, www-dot-keen-dot-com is some kind of psychic service. Don't know what this has to do with shoes… But I found one of the many carriers of Keen shoes here. And I thought my old salt-encrusted leather Topsiders gave me a funny tan line…

Yeah, I've cracked my toe on some deck hardware, too; but I'll still go barefoot in settled weather. Just can't resist.
