- Genset
- Air conditioner
- Dive compressor
- Water heater
- Wind generator (probably)
And add:
- Windvane
- Series drogue
- Light air sail
- Solar panels
- HAM Radio
- A whole lot of safety details (fire extinguishers, manual bilge pumps (there's none now!), and etc)
But these choices are very specific to our style and situation. The overall goal is to have more time to focus on traveling with the kids, by setting ourselves up with a simpler boat that is less demanding to maintain. If it was just my wife and I, we'd have more free time and be much more willing to maintain a more complex boat.

Chose those solar panels with caution,China's(the worlds) largest solar panel maker(Suntech?) has gone belly up and the whole industrie(chinese) has gone "pop" like a bubble...Might be some good deals in closeout, drops and the like(Pun intended)..

Re: things you've tossed off the boat that others think are necessary
- extra sails,
- cockpit table,
- collapsible water tank,
- dinghy outboard,
- plates,
and so on and so forth
I am trying to toss off at least one old item for any new item onboard.
Go simple, go when you are ready. You are ready sooner, if you go simpler.

We ditched the wind generator and added solar to our previous boat, a Lord Nelson 35.
On our Dragonfly, each ama has a 100 watt Aurinco panel (BTW now made in Anacortes WA), and there's a 120 watt rigid panel on an arch over the transom swimstep.

Re: things you've tossed off the boat that others think are necessary
Lets see, I tossed out the water heater,
speed log (it never worked long anyway)
pressure water pump, (foot pumps rule)
lots of books and magazines (heavy)
at least 10 pairs of shoes (ouch)
tons of old rope
two old sails (think from the nina)
one old anchor, still have three but only use one)
a folding bike (rust r us)
TV
old life jackets
never had:
wind speed display, (The boat will tell me when to reef)
Windlass (windlass we don't need no stinking windlass)
outboard powered dinghy (too heavy for me)
dodger (its not just gentlemen that don't go to weather!)
microwave
radar

Re: things you've tossed off the boat that others think are necessary
One thing I forgot.
A stainless (and artsy fartsy) oil lamp on a swivel mounted on the compression post.
Who needs oil when you have LED Sensibulbs?
And who needs a swivel mount on a multihull?

Re: things you've tossed off the boat that others think are necessary
In about 8 months, I will be going thru this exercise in reverse.
I totally removed everything on board for a major inspection and refit.
Big question is what will go back on board as previous owner had her set up for charter in Phuket
1/Sound shield on Generator will not be going back on board as you can never properly inspect with those covers and frame in place.

Re: things you've tossed off the boat that others think are necessary
We tossed all of our books, CD's and DVD's. Electronics are SOOOO convenient (and cheap enough to have several backups). It is surprising how much those weigh and how much space they consume.
Michele tossed her camera, but that was an accident and we had to get another.
