My snubber is about 3 feet (1 meter) over the bow roller and well above the water surface.

I don't like rope in the water as I feel growth may affect it. If a little barnicle grows inside the fiber then a pull might start cutting it.

Of course that could be BS but i dont get hard tugs on the gear like that.
