Line attaches to the windvane rudder so you can pull it up when not in use.

I have sailed out of Narragansett bay for over 30 years. On some weekends the number of power boats producing wakes is ridiculous but all on my boat know,when I yell wake it means bra e you self. Even my 4 and y year old know this. It's part of the deal.
Only once in all those years did I feel the need to have a heart to heart with an,individual. In that case the individual in question was afraid for his life, as he should have been, ran my stern by feet in 4 5 foot powerboat and pooped my cockpit on a sunny calm Sunday afternoon while sailing with family.
Reported formaly to coast guard as well as getting the "personal touch" at his dock, but otherwise find no reason to complain. Most power boat guys are responsible, considerate, responsible operators, it's only the Douchbags who stand out in our memories.
