My First Sailing Experience

I love reading this forum. After so much lurking, I think its a good moment to introduce myself.

I'm from Bucharest, Romania and today is the last day at work, because tomorrow me and a few other friends, we'll be leaving for Lefkada, Greece for 8 glorious days. We'll be sailing on a Bavaria 46, and this will be my first sailing experience

We'll be doing some diving too, but that's just a nice bonus for me. I promise I'll return here after the trip to post some thoughts, pics and videos from the trip.

I can't remember being so excited before, maybe when I was a kid waiting for Santa

Hi,

Have fun sailing, diving and living. As long as you have this kind of joy, you ARE alive and young.

Bucharest far away from any sea, isn't it? God bless Ryanair and charters in Greece!

All the best,
barnie

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Yes, Bucharest is 240 km away from the Black Sea.

Re: My first sailing experience

So are you hooked now?

Looks like you had a fabulous holiday! Was the weather favourable most of the time? It can be a bit hit and miss in October in the Ionian (and the Aegean).

Paxos is still one of my favourite Greek islands!

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: My First Sailing Experience

The weather was great - 29 degrees celsius the whole week.
Yeah, it was everything I expected - and I had really huge expectations.

Greece is very beautiful! I would also like to mention the finnish people - they're so friendly and they really know how to have some fun!

Re: My First Sailing Experience

thanks everyone!

I was hooked way before this, like 3 years ago. Since then I've been daydreaming almost every day about sailing my own sailboat, crossing oceans, someday
Until then these short trips will have to do. I can't complain though, 3 years ago I didn't even dream it could be possible. Now (got a good job), it is "doable".
