Really nice work. I'd like to refinish my mast someday too.

After all, what are children for? What did you use on the mast? It looks good.

Re: I confess to violating child labor laws...

Yes I am cruel, i withhold ice cream until the days work is done...
He does great work. More patient than I am. No you can't hire him but if you would pay his grocery bill I'd loan him to you.
We stripped it down to bare metal, not always necessary but the winters are long here.
Alexseal Cor Spec metal primer two coats
Alexseal 442 primer 2 coats
Alexseal Matterhorn white 3 coats.
All except topcoats were rolled/tipped sanded to 400.
Topcoat sprayed.

Looking forward to completing the re build and step.

Re: I confess to violating child labor laws...

You dirty rotten child slave labour user I bet you tried to praise him for work well done just so you could get him to do more. You make me sick. Then you'd give him all sorts of other tasks and try to convince him that he was learning skills that would stand him in good stead in later life. Phaa. What depths won't you sink to.?! When you know that a well rounded, skillfull, knowledgable, person (who can spell!) is of no value in modern society, what you gotta give him is a mouth, - like them wot's in politics, they's the one's wot is sucksesfil/suuccesfool/err/klever. Well, you know wot I meen.

To paraphrase Henry Fonda in On Golden Pond: "What's the use of having dwares if you can't make them do things for you?"

Re: I confess to violating child labor laws...

I was abused the same way as a child and ended up a marine surveyor & boat builder. Now I am abusing my boy the same way and he cannot get enough of the abuse! Some of our best memories are from when we have been maintaining our yacht together.

The memories of things you did With your Kids will stay around a LOT longer than they will! Which, of course is the original plan, and very well designed! Enjoy, both of you!

Re: I confess to violating child labor laws...

An excellent idea to make use of local or familial resources ! We used to send them up chimneys here in the UK but I imagine your boat chimney, if you have one (and we do) is too narrow even for that.

However, as an English person I do have a problem. What is a DA ?

" My boy! Never too young to learn how to use a DA. "

Urban dictionary gives Russian or slang "yes", "district attorney", "Irish for father" and there is the 1950's hair cut. Still confused

DA = Dual Action sander.
It goes round and round also side to side.

Thank you ! The joys of "two nations divided by a common language". On this side of the pond they are known as Random Orbit sanders

Re: I confess to violating child labor laws...

Should we be advertising like this in the forum?

eg "Sent from my iPhone using Cruisers Sailing Forum"

Although I also have some fancy gear, when I'm on the move (not always connected to the internet by WiFi or Mobile ISP) my 'signature' is just:

"(Mobile Device)"

The wrong email 'signature' could temp pirates in some of the poorer parts of the world - people get mugged for less!

Maybe this warrants a new thread ... but which one, or are such rants out of order - over to you!

(Moderators: feel free to remove this post or put on a more appropriate thread.)
