How we almost sank our boat in Papua New Guinea: video

My wife and I have been sailing Tenaya for 10 years, covering 50,000 miles and visiting 50 countries. Most of the time things went really well....but a few times....
This is a video of the time we almost sank Tenaya on a remote island in Papua New Guinea:

I'd love to watch it, but video ads from the website played over your video.

Group9,

Not sure what happened, but it seems to play OK for me. There should be no ads (it's on vimeo.)

Some days nothing goes right. My inverter stopped working, the rear hatch is leaking and there is a problem with our refrigerator. I posted the video to avoid working on any of these projects. Guess it didn't work either....

Thank you for sharing the video. The situation(s) must have been scary at the time as it appears so remote that rescuing the vessel would have been extremely difficult.
glad to know that natives are warm, welcoming and always helpful.

Re: How we almost sank our boat in Papua New Guinea: video

If I understand correctly, you dropped anchor on a 'pristine' coral ref not once, but twice. First, on the possibility that the mooring line might not hold, and the second time, because you didn't want to take a chance on offending the natives. Try this. Take your boat somewhere where you can anchor.

We learn, both good and bad, from others as well as ourselves. I had not previously learned the exact lesson from either source. Thanks for this.
